Current Positions
Aspect is currently seeking creative, hardworking, and dedicated professionals for the following positions. Aspect does not hire hackers and all employees must pass a rigorous background investigation and drug screening.
- Web Application Security Consultant: Performs threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, code review, and SDLC support. Consultant will also teach Aspect's application security curriculum. Successful candidates will have experience with the security architecture and software implementation of complex websites and a good understanding of information security principles and application security issues. The ability to read and quickly understand Java, C#, C++, PHP, ASP, and other popular web application languages is a necessity. Travel to customer sites may be required. Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE or Information Systems is required. Master’s degree in CS and CE is preferred.

Application Security Instructor: We are seeking great instructors with the ability to travel 2 weeks per month to teach our application security curriculum. A deep understanding of Java and .Net, particularly web architectures and security mechanisms is required. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to be credible talking about large enterprise software architectures (using products like WebSphere, Oracle, Siteminder, etc…), the ability to talk credibly about security across principles, threats, attacks, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures, and the ability to talk clearly about security in the context of large enterprise software project processes.
Internships in Application Security
Are you a college student looking for an internship in the application security industry? Aspect Security is the place for you! Aspect is a small and friendly startup that's growing fast: we bootstrapped the company without any outside investments, have been profitable from the beginning, and have been growing quickly every year.
Aspect Security specializes exclusively in application security. We’re passionate about security, and spend a lot of our time contributing tools and documentation to OWASP. Our internship program allows talented college students to learn our business by supporting customer projects by performing code reviews, application penetration testing, threat modeling, etc. as well as doing internal research and tool development, and supporting the administration of our internal systems.
As an Aspect Security Intern you will be given a real project to find real software vulnerabilities. You’ll attend one of our application security courses and will receive mentoring from the team at Aspect. You’ll learn about application security consulting from the experts. Many of our interns graduate to a full-time position at Aspect after their internship.
Aspect internships frequently start as part time employment during the school year and are full time over the summer. Summer only internships are also available.
Absolutely non-negotiable requirements:
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Knowledge of Java or .NET and at least one other common programming language
- Currently enrolled in a 4 year academic institution or Master’s program having at least completed your sophomore year.
- Top grades or a track record of success
- Permanent legal right to work in the United States. Because student visas (J1, F1, etc) are time-limited, we regret that we can't consider interns on student visas.
- Significant coursework in Computer Science (major not required)
- Top notch computer programming and testing skills.
- Position is in our office in Columbia, Maryland. No telecommuting.
